Oxytocin and vasopressin receptor polymorphisms interact with circulating neuropeptides to predict human emotional reactions to stress.
Oxytocin (OT) and a polymorphism (rs53576) in the oxytocin receptor gene (OXTR) have been independently associated with stress reactivity, whereas oxytocin's sister peptide, arginine vasopressin (AVP) and polymorphisms in the vasopressin receptor gene (AVPR1A) have been independently associated with aggressive behavior. In this study, 68 men and 98 women were genotyped for the OXTR rs53576 poly...

Background: Stress is one of the major causes of physical and mental illnesses, which could interfere with individual's functions. Emotional intelligence skill is one of the controlling skills of stress and its negative consequences. Aim: To investigate the effect of teaching emotional intelligence skills on response to educational stress in high school girls. Methods: This experimental study w...
متن کاملRole of anteroventral third ventricle and vasopressin in renal response to stress in borderline hypertensive rats.
The borderline hypertensive rat is the first filial offspring of the spontaneously hypertensive rat and the Wistar-Kyoto rat. In response to acute environmental stress (air jet), the borderline hypertensive rat exhibits a diuretic response, whereas the parental strains exhibit an antidiuretic response (spontaneously hypertensive rat) or no change in urine flow rate (Wistar-Kyoto rat). This stud...
متن کاملEndogenous dynorphin in emotional control and stress response
Background Cerebral control of stress and anxiety involves several neurotransmitter systems. Beside serotonin, noradrenaline or catecholamines, also neuropeptide systems are considered to be involved in generating symptoms of anxiety and stress. These systems act in a circuit connecting amygdaloid and hypothalamic nuclei, the pituitary and adrenal glands, regulating the physiological response v...
متن کاملEndogenous dynorphin in emotional control and stress response revisited
Background We recently demonstrated a clearly anxiolytic phenotype of prodynorphin-deficient (dynKO) mice on the C57bl/ 6N background. However, other groups observed a less prominent and partially paradigm-dependent anxiogenic phenotype or even anxiogenic phenotype of other dynKO mice. Therefore we backcrossed our dynKO mice onto the balb/c background and evaluated their anxiety-related behaviour.
